Eye hath not Seen

Unanswered Prayers

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Dear Friends: So often in life what looks to us as unanswered prayer is in reality a basic misunderstanding of the things God desires to do in our lives and the things He has prepared for us. Most of us understand God is not a genie that is just waiting to give us everything we ask for. But by the same token, it is also not God’s desire to withhold from us anything that we as His children feel is truly a need or heartfelt desire. Scripture says in Psalms 37:4 - Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. God’s every intention is to bless us, to bless us above and beyond what we could even ask. So we must ask ourselves, are we delighting ourselves in the Lord first and foremost?

Scripture says in Matthew 7:7&8 - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Further His word says that He knows what we have need of before we ask (Matthew 6:32), but ultimately scripture says in Matthew 6:33 - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. In the 7th chapter of Matthew there is an excellent description of what we ask for and what God wants to do for us. If we ask bread, will He give us a stone; if we ask for a fish, will He give us a serpent; and ultimately scripture says in Matthew 7:11 - If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him. Yes, dear friends, God knows how to give good things to His children, and how much more He is willing and able to bestow good things upon us, but in our human frailties and weakness, we do not always know what is good for us, or what is needful in our lives. We may think we know what is best for us and pray accordingly, but not hearing from God particularly in a thing does not mean He is denying us. It could be a matter of His timing and not ours. They say delay is not denial, but we must be prepared to accept His way and not ours. If we are to have a close and thriving relationship with the Lord, and should delay be ultimate denial, we must know of a truth it is for our best and move on.

Perhaps what seems like unanswered prayer is just simply asking amiss as it states in James 4:3 - Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. I pray we will not be guilty of asking amiss for any lustful purposes, but in sincerity and humbleness, asking as we have need knowing God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. There are innumerable scriptures in God’s word that explicitly state to ask and we will receive, even good measure, pressed down, and running over, shall God provide, but He is interested in our character, our relationship with others, and above all our relationship with Him, and not so much our comfort. If we are seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness, all these THINGS will be added unto us. If we are delighting ourselves in Him, He will give us the desires of our heart. Our love for Him and trust in Him, the honesty and sincerity of our relationship with Him, that is key in what we ask for and what will manifest in our lives.

God’s word says in Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. So may these words of inspiration gleaned from the word of God encourage you today to trust God and know that as His child He will never leave you or forsake you. He is acutely aware of your needs, but His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways, and what He wants for us is always much bigger, much better, more fulfilling and richer than anything we could even imagine. He draws from an infinite supply, whether that be of peace, of wisdom, of grace, mercy and forgiveness, or material things. So rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him, dear ones. He has heard your call and He will answer - He will always answer in peace and love.

The grace of our Lord be with you all.
