Measuring Up

A Willing Mind

2Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began…

2 Corinthians 8:12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

Dear Friends: Often in life we shy away from dreaming big dreams or expecting great things from the Lord because of our own feelings of inadequacy. We can at times get a glimpse of how big God really is but seldom of how big He wants us to be through His Son, Jesus. There are no limits to what God can do in our lives if we will let Him. He does not call us according to our works but according to His purpose, and if we have a willing spirit He accepts us as we are and not for what we are not.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 God’s word says His grace is sufficient for you and his strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. And because it is not by our works that we are called but by His grace only, He calls the weak and base things of the world to confound the wise (1Corinthians 1:27). It does not matter your station in life. It does not matter your past or your present. Through faith in Jesus, you can be more than you ever imagined, hoped or dreamed. Let these words of inspiration sink down into your spirit as you meditate on the fact that God is to us all that we can’t be to ourselves. Let these words of encouragement rekindle a fire in your spirit and awaken you to new and beautiful possibilities. With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). And with God the best is yet to come.

If you have gifts and talents in your life give them to God and watch them increase for His glory. If you feel you are without particular gifts or talents let Him show you what He has given you and all that you can be by submitting your life to Him. Wherever He leads you in life, whatever He calls you to do or to be, He will be there every step of the way and provide exceedingly, abundantly all that is needed along the way.

Beloved if God be for you, who can be against you? You in no wise have to measure up in your own estimation. In God’s estimation you already measure up. He already filled you with a beautiful spirit and a lifetime of love. His call on your life is to come to Him in faith, trust in Him, and live your life to the fullest. In Jeremiah 29:11 scripture says God knows the thoughts He thinks towards us, thoughts of peace and not to harm us, and to give us an expected end. This expected end is to make our lives peaceful, richer, fuller, all to His glory and all by His grace.

If one can truly do all things through Christ who strengthens us as scripture says, then these words of inspiration are for anyone questioning their life and circumstances now. These words of encouragement are to awaken your heart to a greater purpose, a new and lasting purpose. The life lived for Christ will never disappoint, and the life lived for Christ will be a legacy. What an honorable destiny He affords His children, and what grace He bestows to all who seek to know Him and to trust Him.

The grace of our Lord be with you all.
