The Greatest of These is Love

Faith Love and Hope

1Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.

Faith Love and HopeDearest Friends: These words of inspiration are from 1 Corinthians 13. This passage of scripture is often referred to as the love chapter. In the King James Version of the Bible the word used is charity but updated translations use the word love.

Beloved there are three types of love. There is the love we have for our relatives, friends, acquaintances, etc., even our beloved pets. There is the physical love between couples, soul mates and companions. But above all there is the love that comes from God. This is agape love. This love is unconditional, of infinite supply, and eternal. This agape love from God can take the coldest of hearts and warm it to a life-changing degree. God can take the worst in a man and through this love, if we receive it, change the most tragic of circumstances from hopeless to hopeful. The darkest despair can become an open doorway of helping others. The deepest depression can be lifted through this agape love and a life that was once in defeat with no seeming purpose or direction can be radically changed to a life of loving and giving.

The purpose of this website is to give hope to the hopeless through these words of inspiration. It is my prayer that these words of encouragement would literally lift up anyone that has given up on themselves or accepted the harshness of life and the discouragement of such as the final word. Precious ones there is always hope in God and the great love He has shown us through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus.

But we must have a basic understanding of what this love is all about. In 1 Corinthians 13 God’s word expounds to the reader that though you speak with the tongues of angels and have not love it is of no value. Though you have the gift of prophecy and knowledge and have faith to move mountains, without love it is of no benefit. You may give all you have to the poor and give your body as a sacrifice, but ultimately it is as nothing without love.

For this love suffers long with situations and people. This love is kind, is never prideful. Love from the heart given to others is not envious and always puts another’s feelings first. This love does not seek to elevate oneself as in climbing over others to get to the top, or becoming angry at those who do. This love will allow one to believe the best in people without judging their lives and their circumstances. And when you allow love to consume your thoughts and your actions you begin to live a life that is full of blessings for God’s word says it is better to give than to receive. But dear friends, as you begin to love truly from the heart, as you begin to allow God’s love to flow in you and through you, you will become a vessel of honor, a channel of blessing. Your life will be a blessing to others in ways you could never have imagined. And the softness of this love, the very richness of its existence will change your life and touch those around you for the furtherance of the gospel of Christ. This agape love given freely to man can diffuse the most volatile of situations, just as a soft word turns away wrath.

So let these words of inspiration, these words of encouragement give you peace today knowing that love covers a multitude of sins. True love will never fail you. God’s sweetest love will allow you to love the unlovable, forgive those that hurt you or misuse you, and believe for the best for your life and the lives of those around you. I encourage you to invite Jesus into your heart today and begin a love walk that is uplifting, healing, life-giving and life-transforming.

The grace of our Lord be with you all.
